Alison spends her days running impossible distances on trails in and around Portland, Oregon, teaching children art, tending to her animals and making paintings and collage. Her inspiration for The Retelling was the song "Little Stallion with the Glass Jaw". She illustrated the line, "So many pearls. So many antlers to be tossed off". Alison loves that song. Holopaw loves Alison.
